My son’s bedtime routine is pretty standard. We put on his PJs and sleep-sack, read him some stories, say goodnight to his stuffed animals, kiss him goodnight, turn off the lights, and shut the door.
A switch is activated in his focused little, noodly brain. He arises slowly from his back grasping the sides of his crib to pull himself upright. He’s on his feet. It’s a wide stance. His chin begins to elevate. It’s pointing to the far corner of the ceiling. An arm follows. An index finger follows. He stands there posing for all (and none) to see. Then bang. His index finger is pointing at his stuffed animals and it’s show-time.
